Guest TEACHER
ROY MACQUEEN
Graduating from performing arts college in 2004 with a Licentiate teaching qualification in Freestyle dance with the ISTD, Roy has over 15 years experience as a dance teacher and choreographer. During his teaching career, Roy taught dance to children and adults in a variety of settings across the North of Scotland and choreographed and directed numerous productions for local theatre and dance schools, including Moray Dance.
In 2005, Roy took on his first professional performing role as Dance Captain in ‘Peter Pan’ for the re-opening of Eden Court Theatre. He returned to Eden Court as Dance Captain for a number of years before progressing to Choreographer for 4 pantomimes and then Choreographer/Assistant Director for his final year in Inverness in 2016.
Roy’s career took a change of direction around 7 years ago and he is currently working at the University of Aberdeen. In his spare time, Roy continues to choreograph and perform. He has been involved both on and off stage in a number of adult shows with Diamonte Productions in Aberdeen. Roy is also a member of Lyric Musical Theatre and will once again be treading the boards in June 2023 in ‘Kinky Boots’ at His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen.
Roy is very proud to remain affiliated with Moray Dance and has enjoyed following the continued growth and success of the school since leaving the teaching team to move to Aberdeen. Roy very much looks forward to working with the fantastic pupils and dedicated staff at Moray Dance again in the near future.
